What Does It Mean for a Compliance Program to Be Effective?
- January 23, 2020
Compliance effectiveness, a buzzword in the industry, continues to be a focal point of compliance programs and governmental investigators. There continue to be significant compliance concerns across the healthcare industry as evidenced by ongoing DOJ settlements, new corporate integrity agreements, and other findings and activity. Although many organizations and providers adopt compliance policies and procedures, many organizations neglect to operationalize them fully in their day-to-day operations. This inaction presents a significant problem and risk to these organizations/practices.
Coker’s white paper, Compliance Program Effectiveness, written by Coker Group Senior Vice President and Director of Coding & Compliance Services Rosalind Cordini, explores what it means to be effective, what constitutes a well-designed compliance program, and the barriers to implementing an effective program.
